Paper: From the fairway, the golfer hits an approach shot to try to get the ball on the putting green as close to the hole as possible. Club selection is crucial to be successful. There is more than ten clubs that are used for golf while only one bat for baseball. The clubs have different lofts and lengths because different clubs are used for different yardages. The woods are usually used for making drives onto the fairway. “But the woods shouldn’t be used for every drive. Be smart and use an iron instead when the hole is narrow and when distance is not needed.” (Hasslinger, E-mail) Irons are mostly used for approach shots to the green. It is true that the best and the most fun part of golf is hitting the ball far. But to be really good at the game, one must be patient and know how to play the short game. Golf is so hard because of the different shots that have to be learned. The pitch shot is used from around 50 yards away from the hole. A wedge is usually used for a pitch shot. A pitch shot is not a full swing but more like a half swing. The chip shot is used when the ball is positioned around the green, usually when it’s right next to the green called the fringe. The team who scores more runs at the end of nine innings is the winner. A pitcher stands on the mound and throws the ball to the catcher who is on the other side of the home plate. The batter from the other team then tries to hit the ball. If the fielding team does
