Paper: these games than just hitting the ball. They are both much more complicated. But which is more complicated? Golf is.
So what really makes golf the more difficult sport? First of all, every shot in golf counts. A good score in golf is the lowest score so one cannot afford to waste strokes. The golf pros must play under-par golf, which is very hard to accomplish. For baseball pros on the other hand, a base hit every three at-bats make them a superstar. They do not have to be successful every time they go up to bat while golfers have to be successful every time they swing the club. Another reason golf is more complicated is because of all the many different obstacles in the golf course that has to be dealt with. Golf is played in a large area of land, which is usually divided into 18 different holes. These holes are not short. These holes’ length ranges from 100 yards up to over 600 yards long. Each hole starts from the tee box and ends on the green where the hole or cup is located. When the golfer is off the green, the flag must be in the cup so it could be seen from a distance. There are a variety of skills a golfer has to learn to learn to make quality shots. There is the drive, the approach shot to the green, the pitch shot, the chip shot, and most importantly, the putt. The drive is when the golfer hits the ball as hard as they can. The main purpose of it is to get distance. They hit the drive from the tee box onto the fairway. However, the golf courses are not all made up by just fairways. There are many obstacles or hazards on an average hole. The thicker grass on the sides of the fairway is called the rough. It is much harder to hit the ball from the rough compared to the fairway. A sand trap or a bunker is an area on the course in which a hole is dug and filled with loose sand. Another kinds of obstacles are water hazards such as creeks and lakes.
