Golf vs. Baseball

Furthermore, how a golfer positions their feet determines the flight of the ball.  A closed stance, where the feet are aligned right of the target, encourages the ball to draw (the ball starts right and hooks back to the left).  Most golfers prefer the draw shot because it rolls farther after it hits the ground.  An open stance, where the feet are aligned left of the target, encourages the ball to fade (the ball starts left and slices back to the right.)  The fade shot is used when there is wind because its trajectory tends to be lower than normal.

There are two different types of positions at the top of the backswing.  It depends whether the golfer has a flat or upright swing plane.  Shorter players tend to have flatter swing planes while the taller ones have a more upright swing plane.  When one has a flat swing plane, their elbow is very close to their side.  “Tiger Woods, who is over six feet tall, lets his elbow fly because of his upright swing plane.  The flying right elbow position allows him to make a stronger windup of the shoulders, and maintain a wide arc by pushing his hands into a high position at the top.” (Andrisani 75)

Golf compared to baseball is the harder sport to learn and master. There are more skills that have to be learned in golf such as the game play, the rules, the fundamentals, and the techniques.  Golf has more different types of shots than baseball such as the drive, the approach shot, and the putt.  With the golf swing, fundamentals are very crucial to be successful.  But people should always remember, although baseball is the easier sport to learn and master, if one does not apply the extra effort to practice, be dedicated, and be committed, it will still remain hard.
