Chemistry<--back Properties of Water Water has very unusual properties which are caused by the forces of chemical and hydrogen bonds. The molecules in the water are constantly moving. The form water takes depend on how fast the molecules move. The molecules in ice are farther apart and are almost motionless. The molecules in liquid water are close together and move freely. The molecules in water vapor, a gas, move around violently and bump into one another.
